Forecast was pretty on yesterday (Called for 16-20 avg out of the N), we went down to Pistol River and Gold Beach just to check it out for future sessions, was blowing really hard and I chickened out at Pistol. Floras was pretty light but lots of riding on 16m kites. We just chilled cause my biggest is 14m and wouldn't have been enough.

The rest of the week looks good except for Friday, but we might get some decent SW in the rain. Smile NOAA is saying good things about today, Thursday, and Saturday and iKitesurf seems to agree. If Saturday doesn't look good on Friday's forecast, I'll probably head home then.

We've been having a great time getting drunk and trying to make it across the slackline.

It was blowing hard enough at Pistol for you to chicken out and sit around instead? How hard was it blowing? Over 40mph?

Sounds like it should be windy today and the next few days. Wish I didn't have to work. Swell is supposed to get better into Friday...

How's that slider? Any pics to tease the working folk with?

I'm scared of windsurfers + sharks + big waves + gusts to 40. Razz Na, you know how it is when you're not familiar with a spot.

Yesterday was sweet, sunny and windy... Tried some new tricks, unhooked kiteloop went fairly well but I lost the bar with one hand after landing and it got ripped out of my other hand. This place just makes you want to try new stuff. We took some pix yesterday, I'll get them uploaded later.

10m Torch2. I actually got them down yesterday. Learned F16s too, and even tried a kiteloop to blind a couple times. Suprised at how easy F16s are... Way easier unhooked.

Not from what I understand. If you're hooked in then you're just a regular old Joe like the rest of us. (No offense to Joe who is not regular or old Wink

Forrest, how powered are you on these kiteloops. Kiteloop to blind does not seem like a move to approach lightly... Way to go busting new moves though! I'm having almost as much fun reading about it in front of my computer Mad

Hooked-in is just a kiteloop backloop, unhooked is an F16. At least as much as I understand it, there may be a few more details to the F16 like needing to get higher than your kite. I definitely think that a hooked in kiteloop is way more punishing than unhooked.

I've never really been a fan of kiteloops, but it was just the right day for them. I was just properly powered where I was staying upwind without a fight, wind was really consistant, water was butter, lots of room downwind for mistakes, just a perfect day at Floras Lake.

I came back the next day to do a hooked in kiteloop and just got my ass handed to me. It was gusty and I was more powered. Broke the trim strap half way through the kiteloop and got to watch the water come up to meet me. Had enough time to think about how I'd do it differently next time on the way down. Wasn't to bad, just a little hard on the knees.
