So, how was it as SI in the evening? I checked it on the way to Jones around 1pm and the wind seemed less than what the sensor was showing. Did it pick up later?

it came up a little later but nothing really to write home about. decently powered on 14m and twin tip. Not enough to really boost or practice and moves. It did reinforce whaty I already knew though, you need lots of speed to boost unhooked. I thought I would cheat and send my kite a little.. Lets just say it was funny.

Me and jbruxer got there around 1:00, waited about 4 or 5 hours for wind, and then watched everybody else show up on time

the moves looked good, and the wipe outs were very entertaining...

See man, that's awesome, looks powered. but you're doing that kite to high at 11 o'clock thing that everyone else does. Put that kite low, like at 10 o'clock (which isn't really that low) and it'll be a way better raley.

I hear that. I think that was my massive dangle railey. It seemed like I ended up sending the T2 allot more than my 11m Rev. I switched my hands up (back hand on center of bar, front hand on the end of the bar) and that seemed to help a bunch but at that point the wind was dying and I couldn't get any speed.

(and there was someone going out 50' from the beach and then turning around and then going out 50' and turning around then going out 50' and turning around Rolling Eyes ).

side bar- what is the prupose of the stopper ball on my T2 depower line. I crashed once, let go of the bar and the stopper ball actually moved down the depower rope so much that I couldn't sheet out. ?

Just keep practicing man, it will come together. Think about your hands as your loading up. Maybe even pull in on your front hand just a little to compensate. Good height though!

Yeah looking good but kite needs to be lower. Really got to focus on front hand pull, as soon as you go in the air the natural thing is to fall beneath the kite which makes the kite go even higher.

It helps me to put my front hand further out away from the CL on the bar, so you get more leverage and naturally pull the kite down. You want the kite headed down when the picture snaps, then you'll be more extended and we'll see the kite lines nice-n-low.

You're right about speed, need lots of it. Should have seen how fast the booters were going yesterday in the flats. Shocked When you feel like you are going downwind so fast you might die, that's a good time to throw a legit raley.

Anyway I don't know shit, I just ride river swell on my skim like a kook. Very Happy

Geez I hope that wasn't me. I was trying to stay up by the buoy in kookland except for when I came in to get out of the water. I was on the Jimmy Lewis Flight deck and I was flying a 13M blue/silver/white Rev. It was only my 2nd time out this year (and probably 6th time in the water ever), so I didn't want to eat shit too far away from shore. If you ever see me getting in the way, just yell "get back to the nude beach, kook!".

I'm a kook, but I'm a considerate kook.

Sorry, but you were one of the two offenders but only in a very minimal way Crying or Very sad
Fortunately though you weren't THE offender. It's all good though, you seemed to be kiting very well and everyone has equal right to share the water so don't be self conscious about kiting out there (or anywhere).

The OTHER guy though...Jesus dude you scared of the water or what? I would time my tacks so he was leaving the beach when I was coming in, then he would literally get 200' offshore and turn around. Or come in an just hang his kite at 12:00 while wallowing around next to the beach. 2-3 times, ok whatever..the whole time... kindly move up the beach.

In the end he probably has the same point of view that I do in so much as I don't want to eat shit and get my kite all tangled out in the middle of nowhere. But on the other hand, I ahd some people watching me on the beach to give me some tips on my gailies.

Yeah, I think that dude was new to Sauvie's and kiting in general. Always looking at the kite, and not where he/others were going. I was sitting out there while Spike was taking pictures and I could just see it coming. What can ya' say, SI brings out the kook in all of us. Laughing

One question, if you're sitting around all day waiting for wind at SI why not just go to some place that you know will be windy? You'd probably even save enough beer money to pay for the extra gas.

well SI looked good and was close, that's why we initially went there. When we got there we figured we'd wait for a bit. by 3:00 we got a stevo report of 23mph winds, but if we packed everything up and drove there we wouldn't get there till 5:00, and the wind usually shuts off aorund 5:30 or 6:00 early in the season. basically it was due to crappy forecasts and bad timing Sad
