there was an outrigger race; 30 boats or so, lots of people watching. We got there and were unpleasantly surprised, expecting the launch to be closed for the event. It wasn't, we just had to move the spectators around so they wouldn't get hit by launching kites. Jbruxer, reaper356 and I were out there for a while. A few others showed up. Pretty killer wind too. Anybody want to carpool out there again tomorrow?

Yes, pretty killer wind after the initial unintentional downwinder to the cemetery. Confused Mad Thank goodness you made it back to the launch so you could come and get us! After that, the wind was awesome!!! And the best part was there were only a handful of riders out. ....okay, besides the 30 sailboats, the 20 or so race canoe's, the stearnwheeler, the 4-5 official's boats, and catamarans! Laughing Sweet day in deed! Very Happy

glad ya'll got in at stevenson. I saw the races, and thought the launch might be off limits, so i went to Jones. Man, that's a cool place. It was 7m there.

We started out on 9's and 7's, but that didn't last long. 13's and 11's worked perfect! Here are a couple shots of what we had to launch through.

I loved the first launch there. Holding the kite kind of back in the window as you should at Stevenson. Then as you let it go it shoots forward. As the kite raced over their heads, I think they all realized that maybe they should move out of the way next time.

That's so funny that there were people everywhere!
Let's see: how can we make the Stevenson launch stetchier?
I know! Add a bunch of non-kiters to weave through!
Go on you guys for going, I saw the crowd on the cam, and went to Jones instead, which was 7m, and there were no other kiters.
what a cool place jones is.

HA, pretty much. I asked one of the little kids to "toss me my board" which in the end could have been a bad idea because he tossed it at me like he was swinging a baseball bat.

There was a guy who asked me if the kites remained rigid because they were filled with styrofoam, that would be funny as hell.
