kochease-- i'll meet up with you there sometime. I've been preachin the Kalama option for a few weeks now... after being able to appreciate the nice grassy launch there now with the NEW PARk. I work in the couv, but usually leave early most weekdays to kite. hope you got it good today. I went to Sauvies based on the forecast the YESTERDAys exploits. Sauvies was sauvies.

So spill the beans. Where is the launch and what sensors you look for to know if it is going?

I've always wanted to kite Kalama. I saw some wakeboard sliders there once, wonder if they're still there.

Kalama DIED!!!! as soon as I got off work. It was great till 3 pm. Was 16-20 in the morning and very steady. Got off work and nothing. Only place blowing was Jones Beach. Kalama is great with N winds. They have a new park that is nice and green for launching, long beach but not very wide. To many fisherman yesterday too but when is windy Kalama is Awsome.. Wind is consistant and barely any boats to deal with, calmer water. Just Fisherman to watch for but there is lots of water space.

Probably go to Willow Grove in Longview today because my 16m got a hole in it last night. suppose to be blowing 15-20 mph there so I'll bring my 12m.

Ya willow grove can be tempermental...But if its going its good, only a few of us kiteboarders there and the people are nice and stay out of the way. I have a weather thing at my work here right on the river in Kalama but its only works when it wants to... I went to willow last night since Kalama died but my new kite came had a hole in the leading edge bladder damnit!!! So I hope it really blows good today!!

This Link seems to be fairly accurate so far.. I just found it this week and will know more soon. If jones is blowing really hard then willow seems to be lighter and vise versa..... but don't quote me yet cause I'm still researching it by wasting my gas driving back and forth to each beach...
But this link was accurute for yesterday and last night. So far so good...

I seem to have pretty good luck w/ the jones forecast. You can probably save a lil gas by trusting the ikite forecast for jones and trying to figure out willow grove the other way. Jones is so good though, dunno why you'd bother trying to figure out a spot full of crack heads and iffy wind like willow.

Ya the wind can be iffy but its only 15 min. from my house instead of 40 min like jones. Jones is awsome!! Is way fun except for the fisherman and the freakin ATV's running over your lines...So if I can drive less in my truck and save some bucks in gas I do. Ikite has a good sensor at jones, but it tends to read a few mph less than it really is.. so bring your smaller kite too.
