Tue Jul 01, 08 7:34 pm Gorge Games photographers must pay |
|
|
I've recently started researching media credentialing for the Gorge Games. At gorgegames.net there is a 'still photography request' link and this is the part that pertains to me...
| Quote: | | Gorge Games staff will provide permission to additional photographers to photograph the 4-day event with limited access. All photographers must purchase a wristband and pre-register. All images shot at Gorge Games events must be submitted within 1 week of the completion of the event, tagged with name of photographer, description of image including location shot and names of individuals in the photo (if possible). Once submitted all assets become property of the Gorge Games for use in future marketing. |
I tried emailing the 2 addresses on the online media kit a couple weeks ago, but both emails bounced back. In any event, I'll get back to this later. Right now, I've paid my neighbor to go paint his fence.

| Every event is a bit different, but this document means that the Gorge Games wants photographers to simply give them all of their images so that they can market themselves. This usually also means that they will give the images away to any periodicals and magazines for free. That isn't actually that surprising to me, but the fact that they want the photographer to pay is just wrong. To add insult to injury, the published email addresses didn't even work for me, so it's tough to even contact them about it. I guess that's why I'm airing it out here. Come on Games, where's the love? |

Railgrab,
PM me and I'll work with you to find answers! I have e-mails and contacts for the directors of the Gorge Games. Also, anything that I find out about this subject, I'll post here for others as well.

| Thanks for the help ladies! Unless I hear about a policy change or reasonable explanation, I'm not going to waste any more effort on this. I'd much rather focus on the good vibes of the BOG and KB4C where I feel much more welcome! Don't get me wrong, though. I would love to see the Gorge Games be a huge success, too. In fact, I'm sure I'll be shooting at the Games, but on my own terms without signing any contracts. |
