I think his name was "Diggy"?? He has a beard and was flying the 9 (Orange w/ black flames...pretty cool) I think he said he either works at Big Winds or was demoing it from them....something like that.
Anyway, with that trade-in deal Caution has going on I'm sure you'll see it again. |

New Wind is adding them to their line of kites. I think Courney was going to take one out late this afternoon. _________________ It's always happy hour somewhere in the world. |

I was flying the Caution Mayhem 11M for much of the day today. Had a real good time on it. The kite was a demo from Jim at New Wind. I don't work in the kite industry at all, it would be cool though! This is my second year kiting, so I am still learning quickly.
The Caution flew great for me today. I made it past the bridge which is the furthest I rode up-wind from the Sandbar. I had my highest/longest danlge jumps, I know not impressive for the A riders but for me altitude was pretty cool. I also rode toe side for the furthest I have yet to ride toe side. So I made a lot of progress today on this kite and was certainly impressed by the kite.
The kite was stable for me although I did see some others having difficulty. I suspect the kite(r) may have been trimmed too far or on a different set of knots, I have noticed that thier needs to be a little power in the kite if you want to adjust the trim for more or less power otherwise you can pull it from the sky. I flew the kite on the end knot although when it was given to me it was on the second knot. Once the kite crashed directly down wind of me on its leading edge and I had a bit of a hard time getting it move towards the edge of the window and re-launch, I think the problem may be one of technique as I did get it to relaunch though I think I had to pull on the front lines and then a steering line, every other time relaunch was a breeze.
I also flew a 9M Mayhem demo last Tuesday afternoon. I was underpowered and should have been on the 11M. I took this oppurtunity to hit and reset the safety out in the water, it worked work very effectively as the kite quickly moved to the edge of the wind window and then hit the water. The safty was easy to put back together in the water to re-launch. While I did not unhook, I did pulled the bar all the way in and flew it that way for a bit so I think I could fly it unhooked very carefully.
The bar is a simple simple 1:1 bar with a below the bar saftey, I would say bay pressure is about medium. The trim is adjusted above the bar with a strap system, yellow handle for more power, red handle for less power. The kite has a short bridle with a single pulley on each side which attaches to the front lines. The kite seems smaller than other kites of the same flat area # and appears to be very well built.
Caution is offering a recycling program for old kites which I have a few of, now I know what I can do with them.
Of the several kites that I flew over the past 3 weeks it was the Caution Mayhem that impressed me the most.

| nice write up diggy. When the leading edge is towards you you need to pull one of your steering lines to turn it around 180. In light winds it sometimes helps to swim at an angle to the kite to get the kite to turn around. |
