I am taking my wife and 2 kids to the Gorge windfest so they can take windsurfing lessons.
The dates are June 28 and 29th.

I would like to camp with them.
Any big suggestions on a good campground I can make reservations at?

Thanks.

If there are no campgrounds maybe someone out there has a little weekend rental they want to rent out.
I just want to be able to have a fire outside in a pit like we do at home in Astoria every night.

Thanks.

And there's the Wishbone Campground in Lyle:

I don't think he allows outdoor fires... too dry there.

Holly? Is that avatar your road rash?

If you don't mind being a little off the Columbia there are a few good options toward the mountain that are usually much less full in the summer and, depending on the weather, can be a lot cooler temperatures than being right in the Gorge. Tucker Park is first, but you might find that one full or crowded and hot if the weather is hot. Toward Mt. Hood off of Hwy. 35 about 20 minutes from town is Toll Bridge Park, up the highway another 10 minutes or so is Routson Park (dont think they do reservations), and a little past that are Robinhood and Nottingham. All of the sites mentioned are right on forks of the Hood River and they all have water and toilets.

Hey Scott

We completed 2 nightly rental cabins in Stevenson designed for kiters and are currently working on a new commons area. In the commons area, the bathrooms are completed but the large kitchen and TV room is awaiting the new appliances and floor tiling. We plan on renting them for $50/night cash. The tiki cabin (pic below) is designed with the bed on the first floor while the woods cabin has the main bed on the second floor and is probably more suited to 4 people. While you are on the water in Stevenson or HR, your wife can be happily floating in the pool or hot tub or mixing up a cocktail at the tiki bar, reading her book, sun bathing, listening to music and basically have the relaxing days she wants. Bar is BYO.

The cabins feature:
a loft for kite storage
crazy tiki bed
fireplace
21 inch flat screen TV
Sound system with IPOD input
frig, microwave, etc.

Tucker Park or Viento. Both are about a 10min drive from town and are very nice campgrounds for families as well.

Viento is best since you can windsurf or kite from the beach launch, but you do have to contend with the train noise in the middle of the night. It is wisest to camp on the south side of the campground away from the tracks for the best nights sleep.

I would recommend calling ahead to both campgrounds to see if you can reserve a spot since both campgrounds can get filled up pretty quick once the season kicks in.

The Bolstad's is the way to go too. It's a fun place to camp and the tiki bar is awesome. Dont forget about the llamas too. (See carols posting above)

Ask for Robin and tell em Ron sent you.

It's a great place and really close to HR and the Hatch. I think it's about 14 a night for camping sites. They have nice bathrooms and it's within walking distance of downtown White bingen. Very Happy
