I have just moved from San Diego up to the Coos Bay, OR area. I'm a pretty advanced rider and looking for a good place to ride. Also interested in getting a new wetsuit, I dont think the san diego spring suit or the 3'2 is gonna cut it. Any info on the area would be great, i look forward to kiting with anyone around here.
OT any good surf spots? sharks? |

Whiskey Run in Bandon is your closest venue
other than in the bay out by the bridge.
mucho Ca. influence in the local surf scene
you'll have to wait your turn to surf
at the better breaks
and I can't tell you where they are |

5/4 or 5/3 would be a better choice |

| Only if surfing. a 5-3 or 5-4 are so hot in the summer. A 4/3 and a hooded vest gives you the best of both. For the winter a 6-4 is the ticket, alittle hard to move in but warm. |

I kite on the Oregon Coast year around. I have an Excel 5-4 with attached hood. I have never gotten cold where I wanted to quit because of that. It is warm in the winter, maybe a little too warm in the summer, but I slide the hood off my head and I'm just right. I will admit that I am a water weanie when it comes to being cold, but you can always cool down with a little dunk into the ocean. I wear 7 booties in the winter too. There are a few crazies that don't wear any booties year around, so I think thicknesses of wet suits depends a lot on body type and tolerance level of the person.
I am a big fan of the Excels though. They are very warm, and they are very stretchy.
I'm way north of you, in Lincoln City, so I can't help much on places to go, so good luck there. |

welcome to the land of the clouds and the rain.
my wife and i are from cali-24 years and still not completely sold on the idea of cloud cover.
anyway, seach "coast" here and you will get the full 411.
i hear talk about a "landlord" on the coast, something about hoping he is not out collecting the rent. i am a waves-newbie so not quite sure what they are talking about, but maybe you should look him up and introduce yourself. |

| Last week was my first time there but Floras Lake, about 35 miles south of Coos Bay was pretty sweet, gotta love that smooth coast wind and flat water. |
