| Last year the lyle bar was completely covered even when the sandbar was still showing a bit, so my guess is its totally flooded. |

drove by lyle sandbar last night at about 7:30 pm, it was completely under
water then, and probably still is, like pkh said, if the HR sandbar is covered you
can bet that lyle is as well |

Sandbar is gone, high water launch is gone, lots of floating driftwood to stand on.
Please don't rig kites on the railroad tracks, its a sure way to attract negative attention for the spot. Lots of amazing flatwater though- looks dreamy. |

Not only is the high water launch not usable, but there isn't a spec of dry land anywhere on it.
I could not scope out a suitable way to launch there (except maybe to have someone hold your kite at the railroad tracks and scramble down the rock banks far West of the trail... bad idea for so many reasons). I tried to scheme a way where you rig your kite at the parking and then wind up lines on the bar and carry it out to the water. Problem is there's no way to get an inflated kite through the bushes/weeds. And you can't deflate it just to carry through bushes because there is not a single spot of dry land on which to put your pump.
Small chop/waves were breaking in the "runway" that's usually the high water rigging area. Water completely covered all areas that are normally dry with weeds/bushes growing. Debris and huge logs were floating all over the high water launch. Kind of set back the cleanup effort But at least we got most of the nasty trash out of there. |
