Thanks for taking the pix PKH and thanks to everyone who helped carry and set up the slider yesterday. Being able to get to the point of putting that thing in the water yesterday was the end result of a lot of work from Joby and Forrest. Those guys worked their asses off designing and building what I think is something to truely be proud of. We have high hopes that both the kicker and the slider will be something that our local kite crew will enjoy using. For those of you who may be a little timid to slide, stay tuned for a "slider 101" class date and time. Again, thanks to everyone who helped out!!

Lloyd

Man, you guys are ambitious, that's really cool. Will it be left there for the season? Great pics, too.

The kicker and the slider will be out there all summer. We've worked with the CGKA, the Port of Hood River, Oregon Marine Board, Army Corps of Engineers and the Hood River Sheriff's Department to get everyone's approval to keep both features in the water until September 30th. In the process, we've identified specific use areas for the sandbar. The West side is for general launching, the North side is for lessons, and the East side is for the sliders. By defining these areas and ultimately adhering to our agreements, we're able to keep the features out there all summer long. Right now, the exact locations for the slider and kicker are difficult to establish because of the fluctuating water levels and we still need to see what will happen with the layout of the sandbar after the snowpack melts. There is a significant dropoff in the river bottom right now and getting the slider farther out from the sandbar is difficult right now. Additionally, right now you might see the slider and kicker pulled up closer to shore when not in use. Until mother nature is finished for the Spring, we're doing that to prevent them from getting washed away. The kicker will be moved from it's temporary location by the channel marker to the East side. But yes, to answer the question, by the time the season kicks off, both features will be out there for the entire summer. You'll also see a sign posted at the Sandbar Parking lot regarding the slider and kicker use. You'll also see an abbreviated version of the same sign on each feature. If anyone sees that these signs are missing or if there are any problems with the features, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks and enjoy!!

P.S. - Just noticed, Rico is tossin' a Tailfish, not Tindy! Wink Smile

Also, what's the rules sign printed with? I realize that it's laminated, but there are staples going through it... haha.

They were working so hard on getting the thing deployed I am not sure they got a chance to hit it on the first day. I packed up before they left though.

Sorry no new pics from today (Sunday) either... the passing showers didn't look D300 friendly Very Happy
