| I wish I did, I was looking at getting one of those helmets as well, is there anyplace to buy those around pdx? All i can find on their website is that you can order them online through murrays.com. Anybody know if the visors are worth the extra $? |

I use to use Gath helmets for windsurfing. I don't think they are a good idea for kiting because they:
(1) impede your vision
(2) impede your hearing
(3) need some tinkering to get your sun glasses to fit
I was never impressed with the visor...it scratches up, gets cloudy and is annoying
On the other hand, the helmet does protect more of your head from a direct blow, and gives better sun protection than practically any other helmet out there.
They are very expensive, and don't hold up well to rough treatment in the back of your car. You can crack the helmet by throwing something heavy on top of it.
I favor having good vision, hearing, and wearing proper sunglasses over the added amount of helmeted head area. |
