I think it's great everyone is progressing, and trying new trix -that keeps it fresh. I've found by playing guitar, I need to keep learing new stuff to avoid getting bored, and sounding stagnant - Same for kiteboarding. So - keep the lists coming, work on those new trix, and post up a pic when you got it down, cuz I like to see everyone progressing, and pushing each other. - C

jealous?
maybe.

but kiting is too important to me to "push myself."

if you get it you get it.
and if you dont, you dont i guess.

peace pappas, its not the kiter i have issues with, its the attitude that "pushes" people to throw trix in the wash. like anyone cares.

its also what gets people, including civilians, hurt. or dead.

and launches banned.

Some people are content to mow the lawn and some people aren't its as simple as that. I want to progress and become a better kiter, not so people go oooh and aaah, but because I want to. I like learning new things, the point of the thread was to seek out ways to learn without doing harm to my body.

Its kind of funny though that you spout off on "the attitude" then come back with "if you get it, you get, if you don't you don't"

No attitude there.

I tried keeping up with my kids for a while but after a few hard crashes I had to back off a bit. Now, the new tricks are for myself. I've started doing a few things unhooked and the crashes are actually easier on the body than some of the smack downs I've taken while powered up. When things are going really really wrong the bar gets yanked out of my hand and I splash down without getting yarded or submarined.

I still like the big floaty jumps and nice slow spins. It's the flying that drew me into the sport and still the part of it I like the best. Been getting out in the surf more and more as well - this is something we can do for many more years. And unhooked in the surf is really fun!

The wind in SPI was a little bit light and blowing straight off shore today - so we went for an 8 mile cruise along the shore. Screaming through the 4" deep water scaring up fish and seagulls. Nothing fancy, just Carol and I kiting along together with no one else around for miles. Some of our best sessions lately have been just the two of us on a freezing cold nukin' day, or being the last two on the water as the sun goes down, or catching a session under the moon and stars. We enjoy the wild stuff and the mellow sesh. It's all good and this sport has been one of the best things to come into our lives.

See ya on the water!

Tony

Goal: Be able to go out at Pistol in a real 12 ft swell (20+ face) on a 7m, maybe a 5m. And shred as good as I can on windsmurf gear.

This will be possible during the last week of june and first two week of july.

Wave riding is the greatest feeling in the world, and the kite allows for an even greater experience.

Everybody has their own level of riding that they get comfortable with. For some it is advanced tricks, for others maybe it is flying a trainer. I know I want to progress more, because it is fun. I mentally make some goals, but never force myself to follow through with them if it doesn't feel right when I get on the water. Thinking about what 'trix' to try and going through them in my mind also gives me something to do during meetings at work Wink .

I'm jealous...jealous of those who spend all winter in SPI "working"! Nice job Tony!
