Could anyone with a view of Dalles Mountain tell me if there is any base coverage up there? Sounds like it should pick up at least a few inches tonight and I'm thinking tomorrow could deliver!

Thanks in advance!

0.64" precip in the last 24 hours, relative humidity in the area of 80 to 90%. To me, this means 4 to 5 inches of really heavy snow. The telemetry data shows 5 inches.

Meadows.... Damn their false advertising... Next year, The people are going to do something about this...

I don't know how they came up with 9" overnight inches. (Maybe it was a wet dream?) Okay TV spot on their website huh? Courtesy of the Unicorn...

Haha, you must be new in town! Wink They've kept up the same gig for as long as I can remember.

I still joke about the word "snizzle" (snow + drizzle) that Dave would use on the snow phone. Just say rain you liar!

This is only my 4th season snowboarding, and my 2nd season at Meadows. Meadows doesn't have any competition and won't until the tribes stop building casinos and push for a resort on Adams, and that won't happen for another 40 years. That doesn't mean we can't make and keep them honest.

Anyone wanna start a "meadowstruth.com" website? Smile

There's no new snow and no base on Dalles Mtn.

Could we get another on-site report...? Forecast is blowing...just not sure about coverage.

-Not trying to knock on Sol's event..it sounds sick..just not sure if I can make the drive....?

Mamann- I remember you telling us about a place at higher elevation...closer to Goldendale maybe? how's that looking..?

If this is the Meadows complaint desk, we're likely to see this thread topple the 'best of youtube' thread for most posts.

...To get things rollin'...here's my contribution;
I was about to load onto Shooting Star on a powder morning a few Saturdays back when I was asked by a lifty to step outa' line. He said my pass required inspection. He talked to another lift operator, then radio'd for another for assistance and told me I'd need to stay-put until my pass was more closely inspected by the dude coming from over-the-hill -and-far-away. Not surprisingly, given my pass had been issued by Meadows after paying the standard 4x4 admission price, I told him this was unacceptable and I'd be happy to sort-things-out at the lodge after I managed to make a few runs and I'd be loading onto the lift. I motioned toward the lift; he motioned and told the lift op to shut down the lift. I admittedly, was an unhappy guest, and expressed my displeasure with suitable words.

...Finally, after an awkward stand-off, I suggested the operator take my driver's license leaving me to take a few runs and return to sort-out the issue. He said that was okay. I returned to get my license and talk about their issue. Turns-out Meadows erroneously left the liability waiver off of the back of my pass. Lifty thought I was rawkin a fake pass.

My issue had everything to-do with how Meadows handled it, shakedown/cloud of suspicion style. HBO could fill the void left by The Wire by shooting reality TV at Meadows. Ridiculous.

Unless it really dumps tonight, it's not going to happen.
The weather has been changing by the minute. One minute it's a blizzard, and the next the it clears up. So far, alittle over 2" has fallen. The other spot closer to the mountains is off the Glenwood HWY just before it drops down into the canyon. Exact location, Google earth 45 deg 55' 05.81"N and 121 deg 04' 01.58" W

Frick’n unbelievable story Stringer… Evil or Very Mad

Yah, many of us who grew up on Mt. Hood could go on and on about Meadows (e.g. Cascade and Upper Heather rarely open). Always been that way. That’s why if we go to Hood these days it’s for:
1) Night Riding at Ski Bowl (when it’s cold of course)
2) X-country (Skate, Stride or just good old drunk headlamp bushwhacking)
3) Back country skins, shoes, or kite power...

Otherwise, Mt Bachelor for a long weekend or Whistler for a really long weekend… Christal is nice and of course Baker kicks…

Yah, Meadows is worth $54/day... Rolling Eyes

If anyone was wondering, the Dalles mtn rd where the radio tower is doesn't look like it has much coverage, but Stacker Bute to the West of it it looks better. I don't know about access to this though. Also out near Grayback looks like it got something, but who knows unless you go there.
I wouldn't expect more than 4 to 6" at any spot.

Good hooking up with you Mike...no snow beyond the cascade curtain - but the Sandbar delivered a nice (but chilly) 13m water sesh.

Hope you had a good hike up Stacker - looks like lots of potential up there...

Nice to meet you as well. Glad you at least got to ride somewhere.

I hiked to the top of Stacker, on Dalles mtn Rd, it was about 2.5 miles to the top from the gate. Great views from the top. There was still snow from about 2500' up to the top at 3100', but the coverage wasn't more than 50% at best. Definitely not rideable, but next winter when there isn't much snow down below, it could be a good spot, especially to the west where the hills are flatter with less gulleys. There were still drifts up there on the order of many feet in the gullys.
Maybe next season.
