If you saw the first vid, this is from the next day on a 13 meter kite in stronger wind.

Remember, I don't recommend doing this, but is sure is cool to see.

Damn.. the part where he slips off the cliff is nuts. It'd be interesting to hear his take on kites vs. para rigs on speed / lift / efficiency

yeah and safety, stability

paragliders are pretty slow actually. at least the normal performance gliders are slow. and the difference between stall and max speed is not much. they stall around 15mph or a bit less and max speed is around 25 or a bit more. it doesn't give you much to work with, which is why conditions have to be perfect. less than 15 and you are going down, more than 25 and you are getting blown backwards. if you think about an airplane they might stall at 80 but max speed is 200+, so the range is big

kites may have a bigger range than glider probably helped by the inflated LE. i have flown my kite in less than 10mph and they seem to take a lot of wind. but flying and kiting are two different things, i'm not sure what the actual max speed of a kite is. kites seem less stable but if you shortened the lines it would help

anyway, sick stuff! i want to get a glider Cool

one thing,...

Paragliding wings are made of top quality material, and go thru constant testing thru-out thier life to ensure there safety. Someone who know's more about it can explain....

Kites are not exactly designed for this type of stress load, Most manufacters use cheap material, the type of strength tests are different.

bottom line is that it is extremely fun!, and UNSAFE. but maybe the danger adds to the fun?

Be careful kids...

I'm sorry, he's got mad skill but all he needs to do is break one line and he's dead. Have you ever broken a kite line? I've broken several.

With a paraglider you can lose more than half your wing and still fly.

If you are interested in paraglider performance (speeds, sink rates, polars, etc), para2000 isn't a bad site, although some folks question how accurate it is:

This site is kind of fun too:

Yes, it's dangerous, but I think he uses 8+ lines, not 4 like us mere mortals.

well I can say I don't think I have seen him on 8 lines but he does fly on new gear no old stuff. He has a fine touch so when he glides he is suble in moving the kite no whipping around swinging much. If he jumped a pully and cut a line he would be hurting. Keep in mind also he weighs like 140 lbs.

he has the spirit and skill.

I want to see the new footage from skyline.
