The logistics of the operation were pretty interesting from what I could observe. DNR would start the fires just NE of that string of powerlines right up next to the road and then let the NE breeze carry the fire all the way to the sound. They moved slow enough and did small enough sections to where I would think the animals would be able to smell the smoke on the wind and either get out of the way or retreat into the shallows of the sound. I drove through the same area yesterday and it isn't nearly as charred as you would think.
