Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to get a Dakine Impact. Like the idea of extra floation & it doesn't seem like it will ride up or break your ribs as EZ. Now all we need to do is coordinate helmets!

waist harnesses always ride up if you fly your kite above you a lot, or have a poor stance.
my soon to be wife wears a waist harness and she only weighs like 105
she does wear an extra small and has beautiful form(i mean while she is riding)
i have found that all the companies stuff runs big and always has.
i have a 32 waist and wear a small in LF, and an extra small in DK and prolimit

I have a dakine pyro that I don't like...it is almost new (I'lll sell for cheap)...because it did not give me any support, and it rode up however tight it was.
I ride the Naish pro now, very wide back, and lots more support...it rides around, but not up. I also put it on very tightly.
The wide back is the my only concern with the mystic...it loos great though.
I also have the Dakine Nitrous shorts that of course does not ride up. The pivot point is lower with the nitrous, of course, so your tricks are a little different.
anyhoo...my 5cents.

Any waist harness is going to ride up if your waist circumference is larger than your chest circumference.
Get a measuring tape and measure your waist circumference at your belly button. Now measure your chest circumference at your armpits. If the waist measurement is larger, time to start doing some push-ups (The push-ups will help in many ways besides just making your chest larger). Once you've reached a larger measurement you'll find that all waist harnesses start working as advertised.

This is how my small '02 Tabu (which still fits me) fits the gf. She's slightly small though.

Hey NW Kiters!
I'm an active Seattle kiter and PS Kite member, but always find good info on your forum.
I also have a Mystic harness that I've been riding for about a year now. I love the harness but have also had 2 rib injuries using this harness. Both sustained from backroll kiteloops gone bad, most recently last week in La Ventana. What is it about the Mystic that you think may be contributing to the rib injury? Do you think an impact vest will help minimize injury on this type of impact?

IMO, impact harnesses help prevent/reduce all injuries related to the upper body. say your arm/elbow smash into your chest on impact, you got that extra padding there to soften the blow. samething if your arms go in first and you smash your chest against the water, or whatever. i wore an impact harness religously my first two years of kiting until it broke (the power belt attachment on one side broke loose). dakine was, of course, awesome and replaced it with the next years model, but i only wear it out in the ocean now for floatation/safety. i find it a little restrictive for more difficult freestyle tricks; altho it is prolly a good idea to wear it when learning stuff like kiteloops, etc.
i imagine i'll porbably break out the impact harness this summer in the slider/wake park.

Hey...I got a mystic that I used last summer...
looks pretty pimp'n....But that pimp'n harness contributed to a broken rib...Went to the ER / X-rays and everything...Hurt like a biaatch...There is a huge difference between a sprained rib and a broken rib;
Broken Rib: 500.00 co-pay (Hospital bill) This part really sucked.
Sprained rib: 5.00 for an aspiren
In all, I had to take a couple days off work (300.00 lost pay), and I could only sleep on my back for 2 weeks, I couldn't even get off the bed, nor could I bend down to tie my shoe lace...Forget about sneezing....And everytime I would twist my body, I would feel a sickly popping feeling from the broken rib (seperation)...Very-Very painfull...The meds helped a lot but the best cure was time (2 months)...
The Mystic warrior doesn't ride up at all...That shit is very tight and snug...Especially if you have it on right and not half way down your a**....But if your hooked in - and you crash - and there is a vertical pull upward (not outward) - you might get fu**....
Impact Vest - Yeah, fu** yah - I recoomend it...
I'm over 30 and my bones are going to get more fragile so yeah, I don't need anymore broken bones...
Do the math.....
I rather pay 125.00-200.00 bucks for Vest than pay another 500.00 in Hospital bills (oh and 2months of lost time in the water and lost time @ work).
You Decide....
