note: I hate to change the location so close to the date, but the recent snow conditions make it near impossible to get access into Mt.Ashland's backside paradise.

SNOWDAZE WILL BE HELD AT THE GREAT MEADOWS SNOWPARK <click on the link for map
the noaa forecast:
Saturday: Periods of snow. High near 26. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph increasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

heres a link to the oregon roadcam which is located at the meadow

Sorry for the short notice, but it will be a much better venue.

So that's NOAA, what does that equate to in reality?
I always love it when they forecast 60mph on the coast and it's blowing 20! LoL!

Anyway, see you there! Very Happy

Mt.Ashland recieved 16 inches since yesterday.... Razz

NOAA dosent provide the most accurate that fer sure, but ashland gets a lot more"catabatic" wind flow and is usually windy when most places are not. (if they show 50mph gusts,.....its gonna be real gusty Shocked )

the Ikitesurf forecast looks much more promising. the 140 flats(great meadow) has more area to ride, plus its a lot safer/easier to get to.

look forward to seeing you there! Cool

phew, that was hard work. Pretty gusty blizzard conditions, lots of deep powder snowdrifts. Pretty rough start on snowkiting, but it was fun enough to try it again if the weather is more cooperative

Yeah we arrived & it was total white-out & pretty gusty. After you guys left we chilled out in the car for a while & ate lunch & did some cookies in the parking lot. Wind was going nuts w/ hail mixed in! We thought we'd need to draw straws to see who went out for pictures, but then it cleared up around 1:00. Wind got pretty descent too.
Nice riding! Rode till 4:00 when Ron lost the leading edge on his '06 Waroo (featured pink Very Happy)! Luckily he was beside the road cuz that waist deep powder isn't fun to walk in. All and all it was a good day & I'd do it again, something I couldn't say after my first 30 min session!

(btw: If you're wondering why I was chasing my kite - a line got wrapped around my wingtip & I was trying to unwrap my leash when it started looping.)

Thanks Sol for hosting the event and making sure my kite didn't fly into the road!
