Anyone done this?

I was looking at making a trip down with my brother and was reading on a site that Dec-March + June were the best months but I'd like to hear from folks at NWkite. I was thinking about going mid to late march.

Went to Oahu a little while back and despite the there just wasn't enough wind. So I just ended up digging holes in the sand. No kidding, I was so frustrated that I need to do something so I just dug holes in the sand. I'm hoping to kite this time.

Two Questions.

1) Will there be enough wind for my 12m? I weigh 180lbs and 12m is my biggest size.
2) Any ideas on the best places to stay/other things to do?

Cool thanks for the heads up.

This was actually the site that I was talking about but I couldn't recall when I had run into it. It is a good site for a lot of places: http://www.xtremebigair.com/stlucia/

Found this thread as well: http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-6946.html&highlight=lucia

But still looking for any info on hitting it up in March. Anyone been that time of year?

Looks like you found my post on St. Lucia! Great place and as I understand it the winds are good that time of year. Should be perfect 11/12m weather.

Cheapest and closest place to stay is The Reef. There are quite a few other places if you have a rental car and don't mind a 5 to 20 minute drive to get to Vieux Fort. Coconut Bay looked like a pretty nice all inclusive place. There are a couple other places to kite on the island but you'd have to check with the locals as I don't have any names or details on them. We didn't get out and see the sights or check out the night life so can't comment on any of that either. Mostly we kited, slept, and worked.

Take a look at this: http://www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_vieux_fort_st_lucia.htm the wind gauge is at the airport and the airport is right at kitebeach so I think it's pretty accurate.

Have fun,

Tony

There are two kite beaches on STL. Cas en Bas (NE), and Anse de Sable (SE).
They are at opposite ends of the island. I think if you are going on a carribbean vacation, there are better places. Quite frankly I was dissapointed with St. Lucia as a kite destination. The Reef, should be The Shack, although any other place to stay is an arm and a leg. Try the DR or Antigua....or better yet charter a boat and do it right.

I'd vote for DR over St. Lucia as well. Cabarete has a lot more going on and more choices for kiting as well. St. Lucia was quiet and laid back and we enjoyed getting away from everything but the kiting is only good - not great. (hence my 6 - 7 rating).

You might consider SPI in March. If you can come behind the spring break rush their are plenty of places to stay and the wind and water is good by then.
