You could just take the straps of you MB & then put some street tires on it. The all terrains get really bumpy.

The wider the distance between the two trucks (axles) the more speed the board can handle. Just get a regular 8.5 wide board with soft 58mm wheels and you'll be good John.

Carveboard all the way! They are AMAZING for kiteskating (or downhill street riding, too!) Not the carvestick, the carveboard. www.carveboard.com

Check out the kiteskating article in the May 2007 issue of Kiteboarding magazine.

The carveboard looks sweet. I would love to try it out. Any place around here sell them? Can you ride something like that on dirt also?

Nope. Pavement only. The tires are sort of like racing slicks, so they're extra grippy when you deflate them a bit. The surface has to be solid and relatively clean, otherwise the specialized tires slide out. Pavement/asphalt is perfect. I suppose you might be able to slap some off-road tires on them, but I've never seen it.

The carveboards are designed for crosstraining for snowboarding and surfing, so any shop that sells either will likely carry the Carve brand. I'd stay from the less-expensive Carvestick, for the tires are solid and are bound to slip out easily unless the pavement is fresh and rut-free. Even then, the board won't perform as well as the Carveboard for kiteskating.

Hmmm might have to grab one for some downhilling at Mt Tabor... Can you bleed speed off easier than a regular longboard?

I think sliding-out can benefit you when cutting speed. I know the longboarders we have ridden with at Tabor use the super-hard wheels so they can power-slide to cut speed. (similar to snowboarding speed check)....

I was thinking this might be good for skate-kiting also, but you would have less give when approaching cracks, little rocks, etc. I would like a happy medium of both, not too soft so you feel like you are "stuck" to the pavement....and not too hard where you feel like you can't hold your edge. Sick boards! here is my last stand

Is the Marina lot still considered the best spot?

i've found on-shore wind on the coast to be the best for land boarding

Moday looks like a good day to break in the new setup there Gman.
Would that count as continuing the streak?

Airnet is calling dry east winds.
Really cold, but dry.

Since it is MLK day, I should have some free time to hit it up.
Hopefully some more of you guys do to.
I don't have a kicker yet, but i'll try to bring a small round rail.

Who's in?

Kicker - rail - I see dead people...

Sounds good - the Streak requires H2O in liquid form in the OR

Dan at Daddies also mentioned another boat launch that was good farther out Marine Drive and 185th?
