I know its probably just me, but it seems that everyone is kiting in warm exotic places, braving the cold to eek out a little session, or having epic days snowboarding in the powder.

Is there anybody else who hasn't even looked at their kiting gear and are too busy to travel to mexico, the caribean or the dominican republic?

Right now my kiting gear is collecting dust Sad

I was going to take a trip to Montana for some snow kiting early this month, but the winds weren't there and I didn't feel like driving all that way to sit in the freezing temps trying not to lose any toes to frost bite. I am hoping to head to Montana for some Snow kiting in February and I would like to try to check out crater lake.

In the mean time - I have been boarding and skiing at Meadows. Cold and Windy - but definately some nice pow pow to be had!

kiting is a year-round sport, depending on your level of desperation...

Family and work would be the biggest issues. In addition to my full time job I own a company that does wetland restoration and that work ramps up in the winter. I guess its the standard example of when you get older you have more money than time.

I'm heading to bachelor this weekend w/o the family in tow ..free lodging in Bend if anyone else is heading that way.

My gear has collected a little dust in the past two weeks from no use. The gear will pretty much stay that way until March.... This morning, I just booked a trip to Cuba for 20 days. I feel that the trip will cure the dust problem. My only problem is now I need to find a great deal on a SS Fuse, anyone ride one?

Been enjoying the snow, got a big Maui trip in February, then spring won't be far behind. If the stars a line and I can sneak in a snowkite sesh or coast sesh I'd be up for it.

we can't use credit cards there ( from the U.S. ) or spend more than $100 cash and travel restrictions from the U.S. , right?

How'd you get around that, interested people wanna know.
Other than that, must be gorgeous! windy as heck lately as well too!

The trip details

We are leaving Kelowna BC on the 28th of March and arriving in Varadero. From there we have a rental car and will drive 4 hours to Cayo Coco. I read on a Canadian KBing site (skypilotkiteboarding.com) that Cayo Coco is quite nice and the wind is great that time of the year. We will be staying there for 10 nights then off to Varadero to another all inclusive place for 10 more nights. I ran into a few poeple in my home town that have been to the beaches of Varadero and reported that the area is an awseome place to kite. The trip is quite reasonable at $2800 each including a car for the full 20 days. Normally I will not do all inclusive resorts but I could not find any info on villas or cheap rentals online. I am a Canadian, therefore I will not have any Government issues. I read that Americans are more than welcome in Cuba and the customs will not stamp your passport if requested not to do so.

If anyone is interested in flying out to Cuba you are more than welcome to use my place in Kelowna as a base to leave from. I will be finished my contract in the States mid-March, home for a few days then off to paradise.

Allen

I booked the trip though a travel agent in Toronto, Canada. (again I don't normally use agents but no info online)

LOL, sorry. I know. Sometimes it is too easy though. Wink

Just kidding. The helix is GREAT!!! I am still in love. I am having a hard time deciding between the Cult and Helix as a favourite, but I think still the 9 Helix is the most fun I can have on a kite...wildly fun. Took it out in almost triple overhead last week...insane. Simply un-describable. I screamed like a little girl going down those waves... Smile

Got most of my foil board now, and I am looking forward to trying out with the kite... Smile

A.
