Despite the pessimistic comments about fern ridge, a steady south wind was too tempting to pass up.
Reaper356 and I launched at the Eugene Yacht club on the North-West end of the lake.

To sum up, it was a steady 15-18 mph South-South-East wind. There was plenty of room to rig with the lowered water level. The water was a different story though: muddy and around 39-40°F, wind chill was around 26°F. Needless to say it was quite a chilly session. The mud was super slick too (too bad we didn't bring an old snowboard Razz). If you decide to head out here make sure the wind is from the South or South-West, any other wind becomes incredibly gusty due to the hill and dam on the north end of the reservoir.

Here are a few pics.

wore my 3mm shortie under my 4/3. Impact vest helps some too I'm sure. Gloves are frustrating, they make it harder to hold onto the bar, and make your forearms tired really quickly, so I did most without gloves. Numb hands are better than tired hands Razz, just the return of feeling afterwards hurts... A LOT. Just be careful not to a line wrapped around your finger, because you won't feel the intense pain warning you you're about to loose a finger you would feel otherwise (yes I speak from experience Shocked).

Mud on the bank varies, on average you sunk in 4-6" w/ every step. That's why the little gravel spit was nice! The whole thing was real shallow, but you can't walk well on the soup in the lake.

My 5/4 worked out better than I expected - in that I stayed warm in the water. Gloves are absolute must tho! Cover anything you want to be able to feel. A little more air temp would have gone a long way too.

Post some jump pics Spike! I stood out there freezing my digits off the get those! Very Happy
