So the benefits from KB4C continue to spread through the community. This weekend KB4C donated $5000 to the Celilo House and Life Works in the the Dalles Oregon. Celilo House is an incredible facility where people from all over the Columbia Gorge come to get get cancer therapy and treatment for their mind and body during their difficult times. Life Works is an organization that helps people put thier lives together after they have been diagnosed with a terminal disease. This donation was made in the form of purchasing a tree at their annual holiday auction. The tree was donated to the Port of Hood River as a token of appreciation for the support they have been giving the kiting community. Hopefully it will be on display at their office for those who want to go see it-

We are not done yet- stay tuned for more good news. And FYI keep Aug 16th free!!!

The tree was delivered and assembled today at the Port. If you're in HR, you must go see it! It was definitely the most elaborate piece of work at The Festival of the Trees. Moving parrots, pink flamingos, surfing santas, and big fish are swimming the lobby of the Port of HR.

What a perfect way of directing this cash in the right places. Keep up the good work.

On a related note, I'm having some cold feet about joining KB4C again next year. I feel like I might have "burned out" all the folks in my address book who gave last year. Any suggestions on how to get over feeling funny about asking the same people again 12 months later?

I am not a habitual fundraiser and KB4C was really the first event like this I've particpated in to such a large degree but many people give a percentage of their income to charities. They may not necessarily have emotional links to the charities that they do give to. You might offer that for them b/c they know you. Either way, they can always say no. Or you may not do as well but this is a great start. My father in law who participates and organizes fundraisers, doesn't even come close to the $ raised in KB4C this summer, though he does many which over the course of a year is substantial. But with such a great start, you'd think it could continue here.
