I think I am packing it in for the year. Maybe grab a ponds sesh between now and February but basically the gear is coming out of the car which to me means end of the season. Thanks 2007! Thumb's Up

nice pics!

the ponds count - nearly 60 degrees at the coast yesterday (whats a little frost in the AM and 5m conditions brought the 60 to a wind chill adjusted ?)

Need to get at least one dec and jan session to keep the OR streak alive - 22 months

waves are pumping at Manzo again - anyone sail in dead offshore - wonder if you could work something out with the coast guard - that would be whole lot more interesting than river surfing on some wimpy tugboat wake

Good kiting with the crew! (well documented for near ending of the 07 season Rollo)
I didn’t realize it was 36 degrees, me is a numb nutz Shocked …….
Yeah, it took me a few Kahlua Coffee’s to get my core temp back.

The uni-strut is a project still in the works; but it’s light, sines quick enough and goes upwind fairly easy. Good to see how it works with other kites.

I may be with you Phil; a bit cold for the Gorge now.
John

Just curious I have heard this a few times and wondered

The 100* rule, as I understand it, has been passed down from the gorge windsurfing locals. Basically if air temp + water temp doesn't add to 100* - there may be better things to do for the day. Some of the guys/ gals on here are pretty crazy tho - so don't know if this rule always applies.

Actually it's :
AIR TEMP + WATER TEMP + WIND SPEED = sailable conditions

This, however, is strictly for the burliest of water enthusiasts. I used to abide by this rule, but that was back in the day when I was young and invincible.

I'm with PK, my gear is gathering dust for now. Time to drink lots of beer and play racquetball.

Let's try this for the other day at Rooster when we didn't ride. 45 degree air + 45 degree water + 45kts = 135. So the more wind is better? More windchill? I thought that was bad..?

I think Kodiaks rule is:
IF AIR TEMP + WATER TEMP + WIND SPEED + GH points + Max Driving Speed to the sesh is ≥ 100 then it's sailable. Wink

I would have a rule if I could actually do math Rolling Eyes

It wasn't that bad for me. The worst part was the 10 minutes of changing inot and out of the wet suit. I have a nice new wetsuit and super thick gloves and booties now so once I ma changed I am warm. Standing around after the session was the coldest time.

It would be nice to get a session or two in at teh coast over the winter.
