Help with La Ventana Driving directions please!

hi all!

I have a european vendor traveling to La Ventana from San Francisco for the upcoming KiteXpo in January. As I have never driven it, would appreciate some help. The vendor is a seasoned third world travelers that speaks spanish so I am not too worried about him in this area, just trying to help re; timing of his trip as it's his honeymoon too.....

1) Approximately how far of a drive and how many hours is it from SF to LV OR the border to LV?
2) When passing the border, do most people stop in San quentin, then head to Ventana or ? how much further is LV from SQ?
