What would you guys like to see next year for sliders? We're going to get an early jump on next year over the winter. Right now we have a few ideas that are going to knock you guy's socks off!

I know some of you are really hesitant to try a slider, so I am going to get some of our local talent to hold a clinic next year to open minds to the fun of hitting sliders behind a kite.

This is a call to arms for everyone! Start thinking about donating some cash to the slider fund. Start thinking about taking your riding into a new dimensions. Sliders aren't just for the kids and you don't have to ride bindings.

Im in for sure.. Very Happy

I think a box-type slider would be super friendly to all....and super fun to get steezzy on it too.

WE made a super mellow slider in the MW when we used to wakeboard so everyone could hit it... and I think it was pretty wide(4pipes) and low...I think it takes away the gnar factor when its low.

Maybe just some "stages" of slider-progression. Very Happy

I've been thinking about this same topic for awhile. I was even thinking about heading something up. But, since you are, I'll just jump on the bandwagon. I would like to donate/help out anyway I can. I have mucho building experience and tools. I could even work on behind the scenes stuff like dealing with the Port or any other administrative type things that might come up. I'll gladly donate money. I think getting an early start, like you're doing, is a good thing. Progressive rails and a clinic sounds like a good foundation for success. Keep the post alive and let me know what else you need. Meeting date/time?

Now would probably be a good time to extract the kicker.
I got room for it at my place. Also have some materials
suitable for a slider deck. And the ability to CNC plywood
if you want to get curvy.

Some of you young engineers/designers should make
up some CAD models. I can extract surfaces easy enough
to program & CNC the pieces. It's quite effective structurally
to make the box without much internal framing. So start
with the outside shape and we'll figure out what to put
inside later. They call that top-down-design in the CAD
world.

A. I would love to attend a slider kicker.

B. I have a friend that can get steel at rock bottom prices (like they order tons of steel a week, type of prices) if someone wants to just weld a skeleton out of 1"x1"x 1/8" angle iron and bolt plywood to it. lighter than treated wood, lasts longer, no toxins.

S-slider would be so sick, or a c slider. I think a battleship would be sick too, Basically watch this http://youtube.com/watch?v=19fHdHbZqtE and check out the blue battle ship slider. it's a sick setup to do alot of different tricks on. Thers's also a way sick place in florida that has a ton of different sliders, i can't remember the name of it though, it's not OWC. There's shots of it at 2 min in this though http://youtube.com/watch?v=KCcSzIvUxeM

PostFri Nov 02, 07 4:04 pm    structures out on the Sandbar are just an eyesore to me Reply with quote

You guys will probably hate me for saying it but I don't relate to sliders. For skateboarders they represent handrails and other stuff on the school yard, I understand that. The guys getting huge air and flying over the end of the sand bar is a great show.

I never saw the sliders out there last season getting used. Just the kiter's contribution to unatural junk on the water. I am surprised the Port and other authorities allow it.

Sorry, hate to be a downer aobut it.

Not to be mean about it, but if you never saw them getting used then you obviously werent paying much attention. Cause if you would have been, you would see them getting used on a weekly basis.

I think a nice clean box or two would be fun and not stick out too much.

I'll even volunteer our jetski to pull it out there.. Make it trailer launchable and we can put it in at the Marina Thumb's Up

I do think that there should be some kind of aesthetic to the sliders as I don't want to see a bunch of cobble together crap out on the spit either.

To wit: steel core structures with wood, or even colored plastic from Tapp plastics could look pretty cool.

To give you an estimate of what steel would cost I just picked up three sticks (each stick is 20 feet long) of 1"x1"x1/8" and it cost me $26. That would be tough enough for cross braces but you would want to go thicker or perhaps thin tubular for the main frame.

Perhaps people should work up some sketches.

Yea seriously, Dakine, Slingshot, other companies that are based in the Hood River area. the only thing about putting a company name on something is there's liability involved which really sucks.
