With some sunny and somewhat warm temps forecast this weekend a little wind wouldn't be too much to ask for-or would it.? It doesn't look too favorable but does anyone have any guesses as to where a session could be had? With ikitesurf shut done for the season its a little harder to predict. Thanks

USAirnet is saying East winds, the link above is saying West. Doesn't look that good...

Positive vibes man! Airnet has been pretty good so far about predicting the Easterlies for the dawn patrols. Sunday might work at RR.

A 9mph Troutdale forecast for Thursday meant 30-35mph at RR, so I'd say it doesn't look too bad.

Plus 65 degrees, nice!

I'm going to be in Cali at Sherman island this weekend, forecast for 73 degrees. Cool

...but light winds. Confused

Right on Phil. Hope you get some. Make sure to ride upwind by the second island for some sweet butter (if you make it out). If it's windy enough that whole bay on the inside of the islands can be a huge butter field. Just make sure to go upwind of the second island before going far into the bay because the wind fills in more further upwind. It's usually lighter in the bay than the channel so you'll want to be pretty powered to go in there. The wind gets fluky as you get into the bay, but if you keep going it fills in more. My friend and I have ridden all the way across to the far side and had a blast. Just watch out for the weeds. If you have to relaunch your kite back there and come back to the launch with 10lbs of weeds on your lines people WILL laugh at you Embarassed

Yeah I was there in the spring and had a couple sweeet days, one powered 9m and the other real powered 11m. The slick behind the islands is awesome. If the wind really cranked up to 30+ that whole pond back there would be sick slickage.

Sweet spot for sure, real whacky launching though. It’s a trip walking down that path with your kite in the air.

I plan to keep going back... My mom only lives about a half hour from Rio Vista, and tickets are like $100 bucks round trip. The vibe is cool, everyone is friendly. Maybe because they get so much wind (and sun.) Very Happy

You're set then! Good place to have family. They even get some wind in the winter if you're lucky and Tahoe's not too far away.

It's funny that you mention the friendly vibe. I felt like that about the Gorge after coming back. Being at Sherman on some fairly crowded days last Spring didn't feel very friendly. People were coming and going with the kites getting in each other's way and there was occassional yelling and bitching. For the most part it's a good vibe, but the tight launch makes it really easy for a few people to screw things up. Although it's still better than Stevenson so I don't know what the deal is...probably those uptight Silicon Valley jerks Wink

Hope it blows east or west. North or South. It doesn't matter to me as long as it blows....

Confused Question Confused - Anyone want to hedge any bets? It's E at Stevenson and West from Swell to Dougs right now. Ikite forcasts for switch to the E in the early PM - NOAA forcasts for switch to happen late PM.

so far nothing this morning. I was hoping to get up and see some wind. I could really use a fix right now. Hopefully something will happen later this afternoon.
