This is my buddy Mel. He, by far, jumps higher than anyone in the gorge including many of the pros that visit. He is also one of the coolest kiters out there, always there to help anyone with troubles big or small, first one to offer up a cold Budweiser after a sess. Although he is very humble, this local is a sick athlete that goes big and deserves props on this forum. Due to all of the controversy over the photos I wont disclose the date or location but I thought it was important to put this up.

Was that the guy on Sunday at Hein's spot that was riding the fuel + wakeboard. He was ripping, probably the highest jumps I have seen very cool.

Holy crap...He does seem like he catches some big air Shocked ...But I'm not sure if he's the only one out there that catches some big air....I have seen however, Jeff Tack, Tucker, PKH catch some serious big air on a consistant basis...As far as the highest - a couple years back, someone posted a pic of Amery boosting very huge - the highest I've seen on photo in the Gorge (I think it was at Lyle). But that was way before Amery became an old fart... Wink Now he just sticks to the back rolls...
But those guys are all chick weight...Throw them some 7's and 9's with 30+ winds - you'll know what I'm talking about... Wink
I wish I could boost that high....But I'm pretty sure it's my fat ass that keeps me down... Laughing

Awesome pic - especially with the barge in the background...!

Hehe, if you angle a shot right you can make people look like they're jumping over the MOON (and I'm not talking about Amery's). Nice shots though.

if they guy in the top picture if 5' tall when crouched, then he is around 33' high. That is balls out for sure, but the biggest and highest balls in the gorge.....that is a stretch.

Where is that PKH in the stratosphere picture?

Yeah that Mel guy was busting them huge at Rufus the other day... how big, who knows... but they were in that realm of "holy crap thats too friggin high" ... the kind of height you maybe see a couple of times a year.

Here's the thread of Amery that I think you guys are talking about...

The photo that you see here was simply an example of what Mel does at that spot on a consistant basis. I have seen him go higher at this spot an particularly at the coast. I was more trying to point out that Mel goes higher than anybody I regularly watch kitesurf in the Gorge and many of my friends (with trained and untrained eyes) agree; and that he is a great guy adeserves some respect from forum readers. I get tired of reading about all these dudes that go ride surf in Indo and get paid when I know there are folks like Mel with a real job and a family that get it too.
