Thu Sep 20, 07 11:59 am northern cali coast spots? |

so, i'm planning a road trip down the oregon and california coasts to san franscico from Oct. 3rd - Oct 13th and i've been wondering where are some good spots to go kiting on the northern cali coast.
anyway, google maps, shows you where there is sandy beach on the map version, making it really easy to navigate down the coastline looking for beaches, then goto satelite mode and actually see the beach, pretty cool. Anyway, here are some spots i found, does anybody know anything about them?
clam beach is supposed to be good and there is a sensor at Arcata airport close by, so i think i will definately hit there if the wind is blowing, but going further south i have found.
There is a huge long stretch of beach north of shelter cove, but i dont think i will stop by there as it looks fairly remote. Thinking more of the Fort Bragg area, there are two long stretches of sandy beach north of there. Has anyone kited outside fort bragg?
There looks like a nice beach / bay west of the mendocino county airport near Little River that looks like it would work on southerlies.
There is a ton of beach alongside Manchester beach state park, but access looks pretty limited, has anyone ever been to manchester beach state park?
It looks like there are a few options at bodega Bay, Sonoma coast state beach on north winds and doran regional park on south winds? can anyone confirm this?
What about kiting on point reyes national seashore? wow that is a lot of beach. looks like a couple of access points north beach rd, and south beach rd.
I dont think i'll have any problems finding places to kite around San francisco & santa cruz, as i've already found tons of info on spots around those areas. This post is really just concerned with northern california spots. Any info is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. |

| Bodega bay from Doran beach is good on south wind days. On northwest days the other side of the spit in the harbor offers good rides. Just make sure the tide is about 4 feet or higher. Dillon beach at the mouth of Tomales bay is popular with the local crew. |

Check out Eel river near Loleta.
We checked it out but missed on the wind.
It looked like a great flat water spot plus waves at the river mouth. |

the eel river is getting small this time of year, but try it
i thought about the fresh water lagoons near orick, and Kellog's beach just above crescent city (near pelican bay prison) _________________ I stretch my wings and pull the strings |

| big lagoon north of trinidad, ca is the bomb when the windis right-sort of like a GIANT floras lake. look for the pullout on the north side that takes you down to the water's edge. |
