Do you need a "mountain" style sled just for getting up to the plains?

My sled only has a 136" track, but the longer the better. Long track = more float= less time digging out the sled.

almost any sled will follow another sled
with competent riders
the first guy really needs to know what to do and where he's going
the sled breaking trail needs relieved
so 2 sleds and 2 competent riders breaking trail ,
the rest can get each other unstuck

fortunately, any average surfing or snowboarding video includes riding that is 10x more impressive and inspiring to watch than almost any kite video. just post up a bunch of those videos, and maybe people will realize they're wasting their time with this sport.

Gotta pay to play in the PNW.

Pick up a sled, they are entertainment in itself

Most kite vids are old, or made with old footage. Next is pretty cool. I think most of the big players in kite vid production are a little tired of it. Kiting is hard to shoot and honestly I don't believe it makes a good spectator sport.

This trailer seems to break that mold and hopefully the whole video will be of footage like this...

You got it backwards Forrest... Kiting is probably the most amazing spectator sport there is, its just impossible to capture the scale of it on video.

I know, I should burn in hell for titling my post that. I'm f@#king stuck in England for most of September while you bastards get to ride the last little bit of summer. Even worse, I didn't get one wave session this summer due to travel.

I hear that PHK, you're right about capturing it... I'm going to learn to fly RC helicopters so I can get better footage.

Agreed. Watching the really good riders throw down kiteloops at Stevenson is a kick in the ass. I tried to take pics and video, but you can't fit it all in the frame. If you do it's just way to small. So you can catch the rider, but you leave the kite out. It just doesn't have anywhere near the impact... I know I'm not the best at the whole photography/videography thing, but there's only so much you can fit on a screen.

I'm IN!!! I never should have sold my sled in college.....hmmm, I wonder if I could get it back...

On another note...you can finance some sleds for pretty cheap. Very Happy
