I'm thinking about picking up a fuse for a coastal board.. how are they in lightwinds? i.e. that sauvie island place.

wont go wrong with a fuse ......wide......long........flexy.....gets to plan quick can take a beating.... seems made for the coast loves the butter on the inside and can handle thin spots with the small fins...not sure about sauvies.......but you might want to grab a srt for real light air and surf... things will ruin you.......with a fuse and srt 5-5 im covered from 14 to upper 30s.......two kite td2 7 and 11.....oh ya when it gets super windy the fuse kicks in agan loves to dig deep........if you ride less than 14 well as long as your powered ,,,, (thinking big kite ) the fuse wont let ya down.....

yep, dano makes it work!
i used the fuse at kb4c, and the wind was pretty light most of the time. I rode a 7/fuse combo, and most people were on at least 9's and light wind boards. also, on the fuse, I could make it up to the bridge from the sandbar in one tack.
It's not made for lightwind, but it seems to work. I think it's real strength is in the swell and waves.
That said, when the wind would gust and pick up, it handled that as well. I really liked that the shape of it kept it from splashing me in the heavy chop, or pearling.
Good board.

Yep, these guys pretty much got it covered. My observations are the Fuse isn’t quit as efficient as the Glide or other light wind specific boards in the lightest of winds, but it does work well at Sauvies and other places when the wind is marginal. I really like it because it is sick in the waves, doubles as a light wind board and is good river board (especially for bigger guys).
I put the SS SX twin tip pads and straps on the Fuse for river riding and then put the stock direction pad straps on for wave riding. Some other riders have replaced the four stock 2” quad high aspect fins with the 1.5” skate fins for less drag in light winds. Slither went with 3” fins on rear for maximum slashing!!
The concave base and rocker really eat up river chop too (nice on the knees). Definitely my favorite board in the quiver!! ~Onad
PS Jumps good too!!!

| The Fuse is an awesome board. Very fun to ride, but I wouldn't exactly call it a light wind board. It does have very good range though as you can hold down a lot of power with the board by digging in your heel. I think the rocker and all of the fins prevents it from being a truly light wind board. Better than you average twin tip, but no where near a Glide IMO. PM me. I'll be out at Stevenson or HR tomorrow (depending on wind) and you are free to give it a try.
