Tue Aug 21, 07 3:06 pm Uploading HELP! |

I have some cool videos taken with a Casio camera that I am trying to post...
The thing is, they are AVI format, and I cant even open them up on my Macbook Pro.....they play in all-white, and audio only.
I have tried to save-as, and export into a different format, but nothing seems to work. I'm not too savvy with computers so any input would be great!!

| You're most likely missing a codec. Try installing the DivX codec at divx.com. |

Hey Jake, how big are the files? Emailable, or no? If there's anyway to get them to me, I can try converting them for you. You might be able to find some free software online that'll convert from .AVI to say, .WMV, too. Let me know!
EDIT: Just thought about it. The other option you have is loading up directly to YouTube, or a similar site. They can normally decode just about anything, except HD stuff! Last edited by Kataku2k3 on Tue Aug 21, 07 3:18 pm; edited 1 time in total |

| Definatly download the latest version of quicktime. It seems they change it like....well the wind. A GREAT program that I use almost everday is called flip4mac. ($29) It allows the mac to read & write all avi/wmv/vfw files like they're quicktime. Works like a champ. |

Whats a codec.....?
But, sounds like you are right...when I originally uploaded them to my Iphoto...something popped-up and mentioned to install DivX....I just need to make more space on my computer so I can install it.

For the future though...
I agree with those saying both Quicktime Pro and Flip4Mac. You can get a trial of flip4mac to tide you over a while, but if you've got that machine.. you need to spend the $30 or whatever to unleash the power of QT Pro...
