The coast was awesome this saturday Laughing. Went to otter rock just north of newport. Big surfing spot. Was incredibly windy. I was lit on my 7m. The water was inky black, and the waves were extremely irratic and unpredictable, but very big ! Got something to look forward to now when I move back to corvallis. There was another kiter there on a 9m waroo, he's a local from newport. Anybody know who that was? (Tourists don't really make the best kite launchers...)

I'm sure Steve would know who the Waroo guy was. How far south of Otter were you guys riding? Though I've never ridden there, I've heard it gets fluky to the north.

th wind was out of the southwest, so the point didnt interfere with the wind, although there would be some pretty strong updrafts near it where the wind goes over the point, good to get lofted and thrown into the cliff if you get too close. We were maybe 200 yards south of the stairway that takes you down to the beach, so very close. Not sure if the surfers enjoyed watching us or were affraid of the lines...

PHK, I was doing hour long downwinders right before you cross the bridge into Waldport...see the blue line on this map. You could easily go twice as far and get out on 101. Getting the smaller Hein fliptip today or tmrw...can't wait!! Very Happy

Wouldn't Beverly Beach would be better than Otter?

Beverly Beach is the Oregon State campground ~3-4 miles north of Otter. Haven't done Beverly on a south day, but it'd probably be about the same as from the north though (not the most solid).
