Kiting with east winds in the gorge

Anyone have recommendations on good spots close to Portland or in the gorge when the winds are blowing from the east?

I am skipping the 5th line and going straight to 6 lines. Much like razors are with blades, I think kites get better with more lines.

Also I disagree about Best kites not being at Rooster... in fact Cock Rock is the Flying Penis natural habitat.

east winds where definitely kind yesterday and the rock proved worthy. i'm convinced it was one of the finer spots i've encountered thus far in the gorge. butter smooth water, consistent wind, great downwind potential, and tits to boot. albeit droopy ones at that but nonetheless it was a nice show all around.

You got the best of the best out there yesterday. Obviously you didn't get gusted or exposed to locals on the Viet-Slong trail. Rooster can have some nasty devil wind. . . Rooster's beach rocks when exposed. How was the water, high, med or low?

Can anyone give me the "skinny" on RR's beach? I have been by it many times on my two hour slog in from salem to HR, but can someone help me find the kitebeach? And can anyone offer advice on how to avoid the dreaded bare penis?

the beach was super wide up and down from the main parking area with plenty of room to self launch (where was everyone early on?). i've never been there before so i'm not sure how to compare it to anything else but if i had to guess the water level was pretty low. it seems that the best kiting area is anywhere due east of the main pier/wood walkway. the river flow and wind direction combine to make it a slight challenge to stay up wind...but seemed to do wonders to smooth it out so you can crank and edge.

the so called "dreaded bare penis' is restricted to an area about 350 meters east of the main launch area and are actually pretty well hidden at that. you'll only encounter them if you go looking.
