Looking for a cool helmet with a brim. I don't want to look lame while trying to be safe. It's gotta match my white board shorts too.
I've looked at Capix but their brims all go backwards. |

You should check out the Bern "Baker".
It fits nice, has a small brim and is actual make for water sports http://www.bernunlimited.com/2007/baker.html. Make sure you get the EPS liner instead of the the stirene liner, better for water sports. |

I like the Sweet Kayak Helmets:
http://paddling.about.com/od/mypersonalgear/fr/sweethelmet.htm
used to be a crazed kayker - wore a cheap Protec Hockey helmut for 10 years - worked great - but the Kevlar Sweet is much lighter.
I really like the baseball visor to keep the sun off but a review in one of the Mags mentioned that in a head first wipeout it could scoop water and snap your neck. Now I got to think about that. |

I dunno, I think you'd have to be going fast enough that the helmet wouldn't matter anyway for this to happen. Looks nice, I'll check out the Kayak place in HR. |

i agree with that. not good for kite assisted powered duck dives. everything's a tradeoff.

this thread sounds like a good opportunity for the local kite shops and/or suppliers to step in and possibly consider offering a " safety awareness demo days" at the sandbar.
They could offer demos on helmets and maybe PFDs, seaspecs, etc.
I find it difficult to find a store with a good selection and with the right sizes.
I am happy to see rider safety promoted on this forum.
