I am coming from SPI, along with my wife and two golden retrievers; we plan to drive up to Eureka and then spend 10-14 days between Eureka CA and Astoria OR before going to Hood River. I am a newbie as far as the surf goes. I kited up by the Ship Wreck last summer and survived. I kite in the Gulf at SPI but that is a lot different from the Pacific Coast.
Over this part of the coast where would be the places to kite? I am not interested in being the only one out. While a newbie for the coast I am in reasonably good shape and kite more than 100 days a year.
The dogs like to run on the beach, so pet friendly is required.
Also good restaurants, places to stay and maybe things to avoid
Thanks for the advice |

Hey man...sunset beach will treat you right for all that.
Take 101 toward Astoria from Seaside and you can't miss the big green sign. Sunset beach lane.
You can drive on the beach...big and wide.
You probably know this if you kited the shipwreck. From Sunset you can drive up to Sunset. Shipwreck is about 5 miles north of Sunset lane.
Stop and get some wood so you can crank up a bonfire on the beach.
Drop me a PM when you are here. My fiance and I live in Astoria. We may be able to meet you and ride. Maybe we can set up a downwinder?

when are you coming up? If it's still a few weeks out... I'd be glad to give you a 'central coast' tour - waves and bays.... pretty much choose whatever you want... surf, or smooth water
North coast, sunset is sweet... .driving gets you downwinders...
there's a ton of good spots on the south coast too.
just pm when you're close. |
