Has anyone been ridin' there? --- EdG?
I grew up on Lake Chautauqua, and know alot of people in the area (Canadaigua & Seneca). I thought about hitting Seneca on a Southerly last summer.
Anyone else from around Upstate NY? Anyone else ride the lakes? I might be heading that way soon. - Chris

I have been here since early May rehabing my Radial / Ulnar nerve injoury. There is very little riding here. I'm on the North end of Cayuga Lake. There is a launch in Geneva (Seneca Lake) that has been used once since I have been here. There may be some luck on Canadaigua but no one could point me to a launching area, and the wind is bad. From what I have heard, Lake Erie is the best place. Look at Hamburg and Crystal Lake sensors on Ikite. Crystal Lake is on the Canadian side.
http://www.myerskitesurfing.com/ is a shop near Lake Erie
If you do get some wind in the Finger Lakes, boat launching may be your best bet.
I hope that helps

I went to college at Hobart which is on Seneca lake. At the time I wasnt enough into kiteboarding to know other people who did it in the area. But what I do know is that many times in late spring I saw some people on the north end of the lake that were windsurfing and we also had a nationally ranked sailing team that used the north end of the lake. It was always a good breeze. As for where to launch? I might leave that part up to you to figure out, I know there is a state park on the north end of the lake that may be accessible. The lake (on the north end) is also very shallow for quite a ways out so you might even be able to wade out a little ways before you get going.
Hope this helps.

the Seneca Lake launch is next to the hotel. Watch out for the Pier, the locals say they body drag past it. I have never ridden it but I was able to self launch with a 12m SB but then the wind died Better there than on the water

Thx EdG - yeah, Erie can be real good if it sets up right. Side on, warm water, miles of sandy beach, and small but fun waves . I might have to break out the folks Whaler, and give the boat launch a try. - Chris
