I will be in Hood River from Thursday until Saturday and was wondering if what the close in camping options were. I was told that you can camp in your car anywhere within the city limits of Hood River, but that seems hard to good to be true. I have camped at the Post Canyon trail head. I have a Westy, so I am pretty contained, so if anyone has ideas or a driveway I could park in, I would appreciate it.

not really camping but if you just need to sleep at night... the Walmart parking lot in Hood River always has an RV or 2 in there most weekends through the summer.

Hey stringy!

I don't think it's legal, but I've seen a couple other people do it and as long it is kept low key in the evening (no tarps, awnings, underwear flapping in the breeze...), I don't think the cops will bother you. I wouldn't call it camping but probably not a bad place to sleep in your car or van as long as you move around a little every day.

During BOG I think a few people stayed a few days and that was cool all around as far as I know.
