So I had this idea this morning after my leash getting all wrapped around yesterday. I've seen tons of people using rope and hooking their kite leash to it so it slides back and forth after handle passes. I never did it cause I always thought the tied knots on the rings looked sloppy and prone to come undone.
I've been trying "eye splices" into ropes for a while, but never knew what they were called or the proper way to do it. Here is a PDF that explains the proper way to do it. I just used duct tape and a wire coat hanger rather than a fid and the other pointy tool. I also didn't cut any of the strands of rope which lead to much frustration, but I got it eventually.

Looks good! Did you do a locking stitch too? I splice all my lines, 'cause I hate the look of knots.
Just redid mine the other day. Pretty much the same as my old one, just decided to put Lark's Heads on each ring now. Mine's only 1/8" Amsteel though.

| No locking stitch, I've put tons of weight on these without a locking stitch and they're strong as hell. It's like a finger trap!

| Cool, cool! I thought I saw a couple blue stitches in the one pic. But yea, those splices should hold just fine!

I used to splice bouy lines and tow-lines back in the Marina-days...

I find that taking a candle and rubbing it on your chicken loop helps with the wear and tear. Dont use Sex wax or other surfing wax. Your wife's or g-friends candles work the best.

Naish Harness been doing that for two years now. Make sure you run the rope through a metal ring and clip into the ring. Clipping to the rope is not fully secure as the line can kink/fold and open your gate on the clip.
