am I crazy or does the north coast look decent for Saturday? Maybe Astoria or Seaside?...or somewhere else?

West-south-west winds though.... never ridden with that direction.
any local wisdom here?

Go to the gorge. Winds are too light and unpredictable this wkend for the beach especially if you don't have a big kite.

Gorge is going to be nukie this wkend.

but the coast has waves. Wink

anyone with a more coast-positive outlook? I'd rather a mediocre wave day than a nuker gorge day... especially since I can get that for the following days.

I'm hopin' for the coast even though I'd rather ride in the Gorge! Wink

Gonna be in the Newport/Lincoln City area though...

Coast was very good.
Tami and I did a downwinder from the flag (Gearhart) up to sunset and the waves were about head high...little above.
REALLY fun.

Wind was up and down but never down below 15.
Flew a 10 meter Havoc with a surfboard.

Last week was NW almost every day but small surf.

My bad, I was wrong, but S to SW winds are hard to get, especially your not down at the coast to take advantage of the present coditions. I love riding the SW winds. It's so different and fun to what I normally get out there.

Glad to hear someone got some.

Decent to solid 13m at Siletz yesterday from ~2:00 until 4:00... It's crazy how warm 6-12" of water can get when there's some sun. Definately could have not worn a wetsuit! Cool
