Is Epoxy worth the extra $$$ I think I am going to get a directional for the surf. Who use's polyester surfboards? How do they hold up to kiting?

either one will break. They are both meant for surfing, and not the extra power we have in the kites.

In general the epoxy can take a lot more than the polyester board. Of course it does depend on the glassing jobs etc and overall work on the boards, but the epoxy is usually better..that said I;ve seen enough epoxy boards break.

I am considering a few epoxies (surftech: Candidates: Stretch, Brewer, Rusty and Bushman 6'1'' to 6'3'') myself now, and I am aiming to put pads with carbon laminate under to increase strength and minimize the heel dents...hoping that will prolong the life of the board.

Still, I use polyesterboard everynow and ten, and they work, just don't expect they will take all the abuse you can hand it...

Getting an epoxy, I would never jump it high...
If yiou want something that hold up to kiting, check out some of the kitespecific directionals...all major companies have them now (I guess)...

I have a couple of production boards that works great. One 5'5'' Naish fish that kicks ass in light to medium winds/...snappy turns a loose feel. One Naish 5'4'' quad fin for medium to high winds, power riding board...I love this board it snaps off the top, and is made for hard driving bottom turns..long straight rail, and a single concave.. . And I 5'8'' underground for more overall riding..now I've jumped all of these, and landed pretty hard, but I think the underground I think will take less beating before it breaks...this is just a feeling I have..the underground feels a lot like the surftechs. I friend of mine has ridden his very hard and it still rides..so I might be wrong...and mine it still in mint condition...all three are super boards, my current favorite must be the 5'4'' quad..

I'm looking for something bigger...thats why I was looking at the surftechs...it is hard to jump big boards anyway, so I don't see getting a large surftech as a problem...I might be wrong though, since after all I've seen several broken ones here....

Are polyester surfboards different from those made of polyurethane, such as this one by Liquid Force?:

So I just got the 6'1'' M10 Ratboy Surftech..I am planning to put pads (with insert) on it, with carbon laminate under for strength.

Looks like a nice board...I can write about later if you want....

Hein you input on the pads?
