I know I saw a post from Sherry or someone else about the rules that were determined by the Port/CGWA/CGKA to keep harmony between windsurfers and kiteboarders. I can't find it anymore. There is a discussion starting on a windsurfing e-mail list regarding the topic, and I'd like to spread the correct info before any misinfo gets out.

Phil, how about making this a sticky topic?

The official rules are as follows, and will be marked by two buoys put out by the Sherriff, and represented with signage at the event site, the spit, and the marina:

600 X 600 foot area in front of the Event site = NO KITEBOARDING and a 5 mph zone for windsurfers, ie no jibing etc.

Kiteboarders are asked to PLEASE DON'T pump kites or rig lines on the grass of the Event Site. BUT, when the water is low, it is OK for Kiteboarders to park at the Event Site and walk over the small stream to the sandbar and use the entire sandbar except the 600 X 600 ft. zone. We plan to have a big clean up party with the windsurfers to get rid of the nasty wood on the sandbar, details to be posted soon.

Can I pump up my kite in the parking lot
and carry it across the grass to the sand
bar where I'll lay out my lines and attach
them to my kite?

I've lost a pump or two by leaving it on
the beach and prefer to toss it in my car
after I'm done with it.

Thanks for the clarification and I think
the port will need another sign made up.

NO KITES ON THE GRASS
