to all hte windsurfers out there, we come in peace Alien Seriously, we all just need to learn to share the sand spit and the event site and we all just need to get along. Hopefully, this summer we'll all be drinking beer together in the event site parking lot.

That picture is how it is going to be until there are more windsurfers crowding up the grass and eventually there will be no room for our kites.

As far as i know, we are not doing any wrong by letting our kites dry there; the only people that should be shamed are those 3 that landed their kites on the event site yesturday Mad Exclamation and i do believe some of us expressed our discontent with them after they did so.

I made it a point to add a friendly "wave" to all passing windusrfers...

and I even got some returned flavor.....and also some weirdo looks Confused

I think it will work itself out...

i made it a point to try and watch out for all the windsurfers and give them room even if i was on starboard tack.

i got some waves as well but, some were not forthcoming with any nice gesture. at least they didn't yell at me.

No shit, the grassy field is nice at the event site...not sure how long it will last - having our kites on the grass...But I think most good things usually come to an end...But I also agree with MagicMaker....We all need to get along some day.... Wink

Dude, even though shit does happen, you did the smartest thing - you let go of the kite (abort-abort), and swim back....The way I see, your probably worth more than the kite and the board.... Wink

Besides, kiters are the best group of people in this entire planet...They'll watch out for each other, and help you out, even if they don't know you...Props to all...

First time, I was just screwing around trying to jump in the gusts. Lull came through right when I landed and kite was still high. Lines slacked and the kite fell. Wasn't a big deal then, but that 13m doesn't like to relaunch on 4 lines. Almost had it once after rounding up my board, but the the kite inverted and plopped right back face down. I was getting cold, so I said, fuck it. Didn't wanna be in the water any longer. Haven't been that cold before (and that was after 5-10 minutes), but it's insane how much motor control your body starts to lose.

Second time, I lost the kite when the leash snapped (actually just the spring clip) and I was unhooked. Not too bad of a swim though, and luckily I didn't hit anyone with the kite.

P.S. - Thanks man! And as far as the cam goes, it's not a super, super high end cam, but it's decent. Nikon D70 digi SLR. Had the 300mm tele on it at Stevenson, and I can't focus that thing fast worth a shit. Laughing
