Hi All,

First and foremost, from reading the recent posts, it appears that CGKA might need to re-assign currently empty positions. (I am only assuming this since I'm not on the board.)

I looked up the list that was voted on last summer and many people on that list are inactive. This might be a big part of why there is confusion about CGKA and projects. Positions are currently not being filled.

I think right now there are only 3 people listed below (Cory, Shay and Jim) that have been active since the re-inception last summer, (and I am not 100% sure Jim is full time HR, but am not sure since I stepped down from the Board last Aug.)

From the revitalization meeting:
http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-1710.html&highlight=cgka+revitalization

Move forward to assign and define (does this still need to be done?) volunteer positions:
Board of Directors:
• Webmaster – Mark Worth, nominated and elected
• Fundraiser – Kirsten Andrews (stepped down 8/1/06), Moria R and Derek B volunteered with assistance from Carlos Cornelius as support with artwork
• Treasurer – Shay Ohrel MBA in finance, nominated and elected[/b][/b]
• Secretary – Spring Milward & Mike Haasey nominated and elected to share position
• Legal Council – Jim Mason is nominated and can refuse, Kirsten will call him
• Moderator – Mark Worth
• Spokesperson – Cory Roeseler nominated & Jim Grady volunteered (IKO level 1 instructor with experience presentation to groups). They’ll share the position.

Pepi brought it to the attention that the BOD directors must have at least one year-round resident…These Board Members at large were nominated
• Laurent Picard
• Eric Cohn
• Tanya Farman
• Kirsten Andrews – stepped down 8/1/06

The ones in BOLD are the only positions currently being covered year round (I think). Also, I have noticed some confusion in the community about the position of spokesperson and what the responsibilities of that position are and would propose the following:

That CGKA revisit the positions in place and model them after CGWA. I say don’t reinvent the wheel. Maybe CGWA would share the position descriptions and responsibilities for each. I know there has been some confusion about what the role of the spokespersons are, and it seems to me that both spokespeople are taking on roles far more in-depth than spokespersons (kudos to both for that).
• President
• 1st VP
• 2nd VP
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Web Master
• Newsletter creator/s (for the future)
• Board of Directors (maybe later?) .. could do an advisory board for now which CGKA sort of has already…
• Executive Director (maybe later as things solidify)

Two very important things missing right now are the communication positions:
Admin/Secretary – someone at least to answer emails and post meeting up on nwkite and cgka.net and to the email list.
Web Master: Someone to make sure updates and current news are available on cgka.net

In addition, I'll tell you from personal experience putting in countless hours in running the Seattle Kitesurfing Association (we would put on 3-hour free clinics once a week in Seattle during the summers) you need to have people on CGKA that will not brush off a CGKA meeting for an 'epic session', and will prioritize appropriately and stick to the committment.

Cheers, and great job by those active on CGKA!

Just my 2 cents and this is THE last thing I am going to say about the CGKA.

Some in the board needs to have some experience (the more the better) in community organizing. It seems that the organization needs to develop a plan and then implement that plan.

I.E. Establish the credibility of the organization and gain the support of the kite community (the horse) THEN lobby for access issues (the cart).
