I've never been to Portugal, but this is what he wrote...
"the place is called Cascais, just about 40mins drive to NW of Lisbon on the Atlantic Coast. It's rated the second best place in Europe to surf. When I saw these people surfing, I was just full of envy, awe, and desire. But I enjoyed the moment by taking these pictures. The day was so beautiful. I've been living here for the last couple of months, and had never seen the sun so beautiful and so dramatic with all the clouds."

I lived in Sevilla, Spain for 9 months.....I went kiting in Tarifa and in Girbralter......talk about crowded...but, I got to kite almost half-way to Africa.
I drove up the coast of Portugal and went probably an hour or so north of Lisbon. Beautiful coastline the whole way...and some of the best cuisine I had my whole stay in Europe. Bummer I didn't have my gear with me and had little time to find more rentals, etc.

Yes, kind of jaw-dropping in-awh that place is....the people and culture alone...then top-it-off with perfect waves and some wind..
It would make for a great trip....nice waves.... a lot of rocky shoreline too...after Spain, I came straight to Oregon from the Midwest and odly enough the Oregon coast kinda reminded me of the Portugal/Andalucia coastline.

I have a aquaintance that lives in the Basque region in that area
he says it's just like here
all the small communities have dried up and the people moved to cities ,
so the countryside is pretty vacant
he went for the hunting ,which he says is some of the best anywhere do to lack of people and high mountian country
his pics are what looks like here
but it's Portugal !
is it warm there in the winter?
I like the pole-boarder
that means WIND

I'm ready. Let's go. Though I've made Europe before I've never been there (portugal/spain) and would love to go to hit those spots including Tarifa.
