Hi folks,
I am going to try my luck kiteboarding in Oahu by the end of March. I am in my second season and working on staying up wind and clean transitions.
I would appreciate any recommendation for spots, gear to take, beach safety, eateries and sharks chomp chomp chomp
Thanks,
Lior |

Kailua beach park in Kailua.
Get the local lowdown before you launch.
Usually a bigger kite place. _________________ My wife kites more than me. |

Yeah I second that. Kailua beach is the place to go. When it's blowing, the wind is very consistent because it's a tradewind coming off miles of open ocean. For example the next week is a constant 18-25. However, some weeks the wind will not blow, so hopefully you hit it right.
Also Kailua is a very gradual bay, so at the launch is usually sideshore, but a mile down the beach it is onshore which is ideal for beginners. Water is warm too.
Expect a lot of chop if it's windy. Don't worry about sharks. _________________ still learning. |
