Just past Hannelai is Tunnels beach - That is where the kiting is in Kauai. I did not kite there but saw a bunch of guys from the Napoli coast tour boat - it looked awesome and safe. Beautiful wave, lots of room to maneuver ( ie you didn't have to blast through waves getting in). I think it will be pretty obvious where to launch etc

Hey skideeppow,

I am going to be in that area Nov. 8-14. I've been there before and have a bit of beta. PM me if you'll be there at that time and want to meet up.

Tunnels is a great spot, but I wouldn't call it safe. To get to the surf, you need to ride quite a ways downwind and the reef is sharp and very shallow. There is also no downwind exit if shit hits the fan. That being said, the surf can get incredibly good (and heavy) and it is easily one of the most beautiful spots I have ever ridden. The wind can be deceptively strong, it can feel like 12m on the beach when it's actually 7-8 outside. Launch at the point and go out through the channel in the reef. There are often only a couple of other people out, so make sure you are self sufficient and ready to swim if needed. All in all, it is a great spot and well worth a trip!
