Sun Aug 09, 15 8:53 pm looking for people to ride with (Portland) |

Hey All,
Portland-er here looking for people to ride with. I love taking up new sports but it's always a struggle at first finding people to them with.
I'm a 9-5'er, can make it out occasionally on weekdays in the evenings, but mostly on the weekends. I surf as well, so if anybody is looking for people to do that with, give me a shout.
PM if you'd like and we can trade numbers! If anyone has a good ride share group I'd be glad to join that was well.

hey jay there is also a closed goup (sauvie island kiteboarding) on facebook that seems to work well for getting kiters together for rideshares
whiles its pretty focused to SI, they do discuss the gorge and jones beach as well as the coast
not sure if I can post a usable link though.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1435590560042254/
The purpose of this group is to be bring the community of Sauvie Island kiteboarders closer by sharing news, forecasts, weather reports, stories, lessons learned and celebrate the sport and the friends who share the water (and other beverages) at Sauvie _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

Yeah the name is misleading. It's not just Sauvies Island (name should be changed to PDX Kiters). But c'mon out and join us! I usually hit SI on weekdays and am a regular bum at the HR event site on weekends. _________________ If you're in PDX hit me up, I'm looking to meet kiters in town. I'm close in NW. |

Piero, I'm also NW so that could make things pretty easy as well. I haven't rode at Sauvie's yet. How often is it working this time of year? |

Sauvies is kite-able @8/10 days June-Aug I'd wager. Just need bigger kites. I'm the wrong person to ask about meteorology though. I just use hearsay and my own eyes. _________________ If you're in PDX hit me up, I'm looking to meet kiters in town. I'm close in NW. |

Bigger/biggest kites required probably 80% of the time. This time of year the ocean tides (flooding tide) can sometimes be make or brake time.
This think the forecast this week is pretty much hosed.
Bottom line SI is a light wind kiting spot and it is fickle and sometimes a tease. |
