Anyone here been down to Alvord Desert land-boarding or buggy kiting? Seems like most people head down in the fall. I'm wondering if it gets windy through the year and if there are any wind sensor or forecast models to look at.
Thanks for any info.

You might want to check www.KiteOregon.com a facebook group for land kiting. |

Coming from a paragliding perspective: during the summer in the desert you're going to have some pretty serious thermals and dust devils to deal with midday... which could make for a rowdy ride I should think... but the mornings and especially the evenings could be good, when things smooth out and the earth releases the day's heat, which should increase the wind as well. |

Hey Dan,
There is a long-running, large kite event that happens every year. I think in the spring time. Search on-line and I am sure you will find it.
