So, No good deed goes unpunished. Maybe not?
I got to Jones beach Sunday with my waverunner. First thing, guy asks me to look for his lost board. No problem... 15 minutes or so... good deed #1. I still had a great session. Then I got my explorer stuck pulling the waverunner out. I call up my son and he comes out with the Land Rover / winch and does his own good deed. We go in to ixtapa in clatskanie have a nice meal. Another guy posts up NWKite left 8m rpm at Jones. I call him up say hey i'm still close I'll go take a look. I didn't find the kite but I did find someones red sweatshirt and grabbed it (if you lost it I have it.). Good deeds #2 & #3. Then on the way home my son tried to avoid a downed branch covering 60% of the road, hits a guard rail and flips my Rover. Totaled... but he walks away with one very small scratch. So, if the good deeds we do are followed by these small punishments, I'm OK with that. I will gladly save all the Karma for my Son walking away from that unhurt.
Life's Good! I'm waiting for the tow truck to drop off the rover then I'm going kiting. 6m at home today. WooHoo!

Waverunners, sweatshirts, kites and cars can all be replaced.
People and or your son cannot. Sorry this accident occurred, but happy with the outcome ie no injuries or loss of life.

wow! imagine the force it took to break that rear wheel off!
Glad everyone walked away. Good advertisement for Rover crash safety. Unless of course the rollover could have been avoided in a different vehicle.

Holy crap Kevin! Those pictures tell a hell of a story! Glad your son is okay... maybe the Jet-ski is cursed or something and that's why she gave it to you... kind of like "It Follows"...

I still feel blessed. I just knocked on wood. I don't wanna be Job from the bible.
It was a fun rig, but I like my son more.

Not trying to hijack the thread but thought I would add another anecdote...
I fight fire with neighbor:
Eating dinner last night outside with my fam. Smells like someone is lighting up a very dirty grill. Smell goes away then it returns in a minute or two and I see some rather dirty smoke. Run to street to follow smoke. Back of neighbors house is on fire, along with shrubs and fence. He's grabs his garden hose trying to keep it from going up. I call 911. They ask me to make sure people are out of the house and tell anyone fighting the fire to stop. I suggest to neighbor he consider stopping, he declines. After ensuring 911 has location I hang up on 911 to help neighbor. They call me back and tell me not to hang up and tell person fighting fire to stop, I tell them I already did but it's clear he's gonna keep at it. I tell them I am now hanging up. Another neighbor throws garden hose over fence and I assist neighbor in trying to keep the fire from getting worse until Fire Dept arrives. FD arrives with lots of water and axes, chain saw and proceeds to tear off Aluminum siding and underneath insulation to ensure seat of the fire is out. That was quite amazing to watch! House is damaged but nothing internal to the siding and only on the back corner. Shrubs and fence are toast.
Get bandages for neighbor's burns (minor)
Later in the evening I go to store to get some things, including 6 9V batteries to replace all the dead ones in my own smoke detectors. I grab some bandages for mild burns for my neighbor. It's now 10 pm and dark I get home take my grocery bag out and put in on the sidewalk and rummage through for the bandages.
Someone steals my batteries, berries and yogurt
I bring the bandages over to my neighbor, across the street and two houses down. I explain how to care for and dress the burns. Return back to my house and someone helped themselves, i.e. stole, my grocery bag with all my 9V batteries, stretchy garden hose with sprayer, assorted berries for my kids and yogurt. I thought about getting all worked up and angry but I figured, what's the point? I got back in the car and headed back to Fred Meyer's. At least this time I knew exactly where everything was so it was a quick shopping trip.
Fire Cause
My neighbor redid the stain on his deck. He let the rags dry outside all day Sat. Then around noon on Sunday he picks them off and throws them in outside garbage can. Fire starts around 6pm on Sunday.
