Yesterday I hung out at Jones, the wind showed up very late around 6 PM. The wind was very light but it worked out ok. I am here visiting friends in Portland and have been out of the loop for a while and pretty much forgot/lost all my wind tools. Today I am looking for wind....any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

And the day before too There were even eyewitness accounts of some dude riding a 6m kite with a surfboard...
PS: Nice pic Gman... It was quite something indeed yesterday in terms of number of people, double parking and overall great time...

Manzanita was great 7m the last two days but today (Monday) will likely be a 12m if we're lucky. starting Wednesday the Gorge will be the best but there's a chance of Tuesday working. Today is a rare no wind day across Oregon.

I just read the ikitesurf human forecast. Doesn't look so good. Rooster is blowing east right now. hard to say if it will stick around. Jones is also blowing east. and then is suppose to turn around west - but late.
Hard to say what to do

Looks like jones turned around. Still new to that spot, is it likely to be windy all evening there?

Since you're new there, keep in mind that the water is less choppy and the wind steadier on the far (Washington) side.

You forgot to mention the 3 ripples of swell that occur on the east end of nuke alley.

Actually, there is usually small (waist highish?) but very nice swell on the Washington side along the shoreline, particularly when you get past the wood break water/green marker. I usually ride all the way down to the big rock outcropping, then head across and back up to Jones. Takes only a couple of tacks, but I would recommend it only for the experienced. If you ride that side, you have to be prepared to figure out a Washington exit... you don't want to self-rescue across the shipping lane if you can avoid it.
